Three places honor men as hunters, warriors, and storytellers, while three celebrate women as gatherers, educators, and healers, reflecting balanced community contributions. Handprints signify ancestral guidance, waterways represent the Illawarra region’s rivers, and footprints symbolise elders’ enduring cultural legacy. These elements
collectively illustrate the Dharawal people’s deep connection to their land, sea, and
sky, and their commitment to preserving traditions for future generations.
