QLD STATE OF ORIGIN 2006 NRL RETRO JERSEY
The jersey that started the greatest dynasty in Origin history.
The 2006 origin series kicked off an eight-year dynasty, one that will quite simpily never be matched. Mal Meninga had just taken over as coach with the Maroons staring down the barrel of a fourth consecutive series loss. He named seven debutants for Game I, including Greg Inglis, Sam Thaiday, Matt Scott and Nate Myles, in a massive gamble that drew fierce criticism after Queensland lost the opener. But Meninga never blinked. Game II saw Darren Lockyer lead the Maroons to a dominant 30-6 win, before Lockyer again proved the difference in the decider, regathering a wayward pass to seal the comeback victory that changed Origin forever.
What followed was a dynasty. Eight consecutive series wins. An era that reshaped State of Origin forever. And it all began in this jersey. For Maroons fans, this isn't just a retro jersey, it's the one.
