QLD MAROONS STATE OF ORIGIN 1991 NRL RETRO JERSEY
There are State of Origin series, and then there is 1991. It remains one of the closest series of all time, with just two points separating all three games and it produced moments that have never left the game's collective memory.
It was Wally Lewis' farewell from Origin football, and he went out winning. Game II gave us the iconic image of Lewis and NSW enforcer Mark Geyer standing toe-to-toe in teeming Sydney rain, leading to be one of the most reproduced photos in Australian sporting history. In the deciding Game III, the ground announcer declared it to be Lewis' final Origin appearance with 10 minutes remaining - as requested by Lewis himself - causing the crowd to cheer the Maroons home as they held on to their two-point lead. Queensland won the series 2-1, sending their captain into retirement as a champion.
This is the jersey worn through all of it. A piece of Origin folklore you can wear.
