The 2001 Parramatta Eels are remembered as one of the greatest teams never to win a premiership. Setting records for most points (839) and most tries in a regular season, they dominated their way to the minor premiership and their first grand final in fifteen years, only to fall 30–24 to the Newcastle Knights after trailing 24–0 at halftime in one of rugby league's great heartbreaks.
